Yes. Why? Because the prescription wasn’t written in your name making it “illegal” for you to take said prescription in the first place. Lot’s of people do it, but it’s not smart. Not at all.
Drug tests are specific. Most workplaces only check for weed, coke, meth, and opiates. If your ‘legal’ drugs are opiate-based (i.e. oxycontin) then yeah, you’re gonna show up positive for opiates, which is essentially the same thing as testing positive for heroin. The drug test can’t tell the difference.
It depends on the “legal” drug. If it’s a controlled substance, the answer would be yes (that would include painkillers, some sleeping medications, etc.). If it’s not, they won’t be looking for it in your sample and probably won’t know you’ve taken it. Can you be more specific about the drug?
Definitely! This happened to a friend of mine after she had an accident at work and had to be “drug tested”. I think they just wanted to get rid of her – but still – be careful. All those papers you signed when you got hired basically released them from any liability when they fire you for a drug related incident.
I don’t get it. Legal drugs are only sold with a prescription. Those without a prescription (Tylenol, aspirin, etc) do not pose any problem. But if you have ,for example, Prozac or Valium in your system and don’t have a presc. you are in hot water.
Otherwise u can’t get fired.
If that is the companies published policy, yes.
If they just find something they don’t like but it was not previous policy, no.
Most company drug tests to not check for any non narcotic prescription drugs or there metabolites.
So some drugs, if they require a prescription but you don’t have on but posses the drugs, that makes it illegal possession. They do that with ADHD medication and the like because it is just like legal speed.
This can depend. The short answer is yes. The long answer is that it is surely possible that your job could understand, it can depend on your excuse, or if they hate you, etc.
I believe so.
yes because they are not yours.
Yes!
