What Do You Do When The Security Device Thing Wasn’t Taken Off Of Your Clothes?

I just bought a skirt at Pac Sun & they forgot to take off the plastic security thing and i didn’t notice..Should I go back with my receipt or does someone know of a way to take it off without ruining my skirt?

  1. Take it back to the store with the receipt. If you try to take it off yourself you will release a dye made to ruin the garment. It is the stores mistake not yours.

  2. Go back to the store with the reciept. But on one occasion I bought a new purse at hot topic and the person working forgot to remove a tag, I’ve had that happen there twice. Well they handed my dad the reciept and not thinking he shoved it in his coat pocket and we couldn’t find it so I got rescorseful and tried to remove it myself by melting the top of the cone shaped part of the tag with a lighter till the spring popped out, and I used a searated knife (bread knife) to saw at the top of the cone (its much easier if you have a tiny rotating saw.) The tags are held on by a spring and ball bearing. But I DO NOT SUGGEST TRYING IT AT HOME because A security tags vary, and B you could damage something. I just did it because the bag was worthless with the tag because I lost the reciept and I didn’t wanna look like a shoplifter going back to the store. After I managed to do it my dad found the reciept and hes like guess what was in my pocket and I yelled “IT BETTER NOT BE THE RECIEPT OR I WILL BE MAD AT YOU!”
That’s usually why stores have security bars by there doors, they serve a dual purpose, but in many places are mostly there not to discourage shoplifting thats why they have the tags in the first place but its to catch tags that are missed and accidentally left on as the tag is created so it sets the alarm off when it gets between the 2 bars by the door and disturbs the electromagnetic field.
I’ve heard some stores if they are really really good about customer service will come to your home to remove the tag if you call and complain, but I’m pretty sure that’s pretty rare.
(Btw my attempt to get it off was successful and I didn’t do any damage to me or the bag but it took me 45 minutes, and it was difficult and I had to be real careful.)

  3. You don’t need the receipt if you paid by credit/debit card or the store has an epos system because they would be able to track the transaction.
