What Is A Real World Example For Balancing Chemical Equations?

I’m working on a chem project and I can’t seem to think of a really good example.

  1. The burning of natural gas in a gas range.
One would need to know that natural gas is mostly methane (CH4) and that the balanced equation is:
    CH4 (g) + 2 O2 (g) –> CO2 (g) + 2 H2O (g)
in order to design the air holes necessary for the burners (you also need to know that only 21 % of the atmosphere is O2 gas).

  2. Any recipe is a balanced chemical equation. If you are making an omelet and it calls for 2 eggs for each onion, here is the stoichiometry. Now, if you had 6 eggs, you would use 3 onions.
And if you had a mole of onions, you would use 2 moles of eggs.

  3. Reacting methane and steam (H2O) forms CO2 and hydrogen. For every mole of CH4 you get 2 moles hydrogen.
