Following IUPAC conventions, with the oxidation state of the metal indicated in bracketed roman numerals (as per convention):
Lead (II) oxide
1) Lead (II) acetate hydrate
2) Mercury (I) chloride
3) Dinitrogen pentoxide
4) Hydrogen iodate, or periodic acid
5) Silver (I) chromate
6) Sodium phosphide
7) Hydrogen selenide
9) Potassium hydrogen carbonate, or potassium bicarbonate
10) Tin (IV) nitrite
In general:
For ionic compounds:
Name the metal first, then the non-metal with the ending “-ide”.
For compounds featuring a polyatomic ion:
Name the ions in order, ending with the polyatomic ion.
