Can You Glue Up Gyprock Or Does It Have To Be Screwed Up?

A friend told us that in his new house his gyprock was glued up. If you can glue it up does anyone know the name of the adhesive? And if you must screw it up why?

  1. About the only time sheetrock is glued is when it’s applied to a cement or block wall. Even then, screws are recommended over glue, but usually a product called “liquid nails” is what is used.
If you are sheetrocking a wood studded wall, don’t even consider glue. The paper on the back side of the panels will tear off eventually. Always use screws or nails in that case or when you use the panels on a ceiling.

  2. I doubt that, gyprock or sheet rock or dry wall
    [all the same ]
needs to be either nailed or screwed to suport it,
[on a celing] now on a wall thats a diffrent story, you can use contractors glue or liquid nail. But ti has to be suported till the glue drys, so it will still have a few screws or nails in it

  3. When glued the sheetroack still will require screws to secure it will the glue dries; and Liquid Nails is one of several drywall adhesive manufacturers. 4. When any type of paneling is glued up, they use glue that is like a tube of caulk. Liquid Nails is a popular brand. Check at a home center. Here is Liquid Nails for Drywall. They have a list of other Liquid Nail products to the right side:http://www.liquidnails.com/products/prod…

  5. You should always do both. Buy construction adhesive (Liquid Nails is the most popular one). Adhesive in addition to screws makes a much stong structure. Pros use both in combination.
